i just got a tobisha laptop with vista and my old computer is a sony viao desktop windows xp ... the windows vista laptop has this program called windows easy transfer... what kind of cable to i need to get my programs from my old computer to my new computer...???

and where can i buy it like in a store not online

Ethernet cable, you can get them from any computer store. Alternatively just burn the settings to disk and import them from there on your laptop

The crossover cable or a hub and two patch cable will be the best. If you are in the mood to remove your hard drive and adapt it to an external USB case this is over all the easiest.

The best thing would be to do it via network either using a switch (cable modem, wireless etc..) or connect between the two using a wireless ad hoc connection or a peer to peer via a cross over cable

If you have a router or switch you can use 2 lan (CAT5) cables to connect each machine to it. Otherwise you need a cross-over cable which all the major stores sell now. This connects between the machines direct.

you can buy from walmart, staples or any other store that sell computer stuff and to solve your problem get a USB cable and go from there

USB, Firewire, Portable Hard Drive, Thumb Drive, Network. All of these will work and you can get them at any computer/electronics depot.
