i have been cleaning up my computer and i went to My computer>documents and settings>all users>application data>microsoft>local settings>application data>microsoft>windows live contacts, and then there is a folder headed with my email address and when i click into it, it has 2 folders, one called 'real' and one next to it called 'shadow'. Has this got anything to do with someone saving my windows msn conversations onto the computer? Im afraid that someone in my famliy has set this up to spy on me and i dont know much about computers. PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

MSN Messenger has an option to automatically save your conversation logs - I think this may be on by default. Turn the option off, if you're concerned, by looking through the options menus in MSN Messenger. Sorry, I can't remember exactly where in the options - but it's there!

It has got something on msn that can save all your conversations to a separate folder. Sorry cant remember how. Also watch out for google desktop its a tiny icon that can save everything you do and view on your computer in a cache.

your conversations have been saved to your pc by request. You need to change this if you are not the only user and would like to keep your conversations private. Only you can change this as you need to be logged into your account. go into MSN tools -options - look for message history - and change your setting.

then to delete conversations recorded.. go to your start menu - run.. type %temp% and hit ENTER

this will bring up a window of temporary internet files... look for your recorded conversations in a file there. But all files in this window can be safely deleted. it will free up your memory too!! :o)

Haha...No, there is nothing to worry about. When you sign onto MSN messenger (or Windows Live Messenger), it creates those folders on it's own to save your settings. Your conversations are not saved unless you set it up that way.

msn automatically saves all your conversations. if you don't want it to then follow this.
go to tools on msn, then options, messages, then near the bottom it should say "automatically keep a history of my convos". just unclick this and click apply. then it will no longer save them.

In Internet explorer at top of window select tools - then delete browser history - then another box will open - select delete all- this will not remove your book marks -Then close explorer then open again .At first pages will be slow once and then will load fast after it loads 1 time. Also email etc you will have to sign in 1 time with pass word etc.
This will create new cookies.
Also go to start at bottom of on task bar.click start 1 time then select find or search depending on your operating system.Select all files and folders - then type in defrag and click search. When icons come up double click and new box will come up - select analyze then you will see how fragmented you are - then choose defrag. You can put this program on your desk top by right clicking on the icon you found in search for defrag.Right click choose create short cut. This will put a short cut on your desk top. Then you can use as needed in future.
