I need to seal a hole in a gas cap. Would jb weld work or some other chaulk. it only protects againt splash not as a sealant.

Go to a parts store and look for some sealer that resists gasoline like RTV or silicone....comes in a small squeeze tube.

I could chalk it up to experience. Chalk is a bit too cowardly to stand up to gasoline. I think it would turn and run away. When under pressure, chalk tends to crumble and fall apart.
