I could never take Eurovision seriously - it is hilarious. It's ALWAYS been a farce. It's only fit for a good laugh, in my opinion... and that comes from listening to Wogan's drunken sarcastic commentary!
The last decent song in it was Johnny Logan's Hold Me Now, back in 1987.

Eastern Europe is ganging up on the West! The top five countries were all from Eastern Europe and they were all voting for each other the whole time. Get used to the Eurovision coming from the East in future guys, nobody in the West will ever win it again.
Scooch looked like a tacky version of Steps, still it was nice of Ireland to shoot themselves in the foot, give you guys 7 points and finish last behind you!
And why didn't the UK give Ireland any points??? These Eastern countries stick together, that's why they win. Maybe the U.K. could learn a lesson or two from them.

I'd have been more worried about the other countries' intentions if they had given the UK song high marks every time - even in the face of Eurovision, which lets face it, presents some seriously poor excuses for music: Scooch were absolute garbage. I wouldn't have voted for them as a resident of the UK, so I wouldn't expect anyone else to either.
I mean come on - did they seriously think that some bad uniforms and VERY bad double entendres ("Would sir like something to suck on for landing?") would make up for the fact that Scooch can't sing!?
Let's take the money it costs to fund Eurovision, and all the money spent voting for crap music, and give it to the countries who have better things to worry about than who can put together the best (or worst) song - ie poverty, natural disasters, AIDS epidemics, you know IMPORTANT STUFF.

Europe used by one big continent, consisting of four countries.
Thanks to them voting for each other (Serbia and Ukraine) won. Serbia at 268 points. Us and France at 19 and Ireland even less.
Serbia were crap!
Political eastern block.
When Serbia won, they are surrounded by the most countries possible as allies.
Don't you think Serbia and Ukraine were a load of dorks.
Beats me.
BBC won't let Eurovision go because of the £££...s.
It was funny how they were speaking English only this year.
As well as in Helinski too.
I said last year I would never watch it again.
But they don't want us to win.
In fact, it's because we are actually new to Europe and the EU.
So them, being together, will always vote for each other.
That's why we weren't voted in.
Scootch, were quite good, not to impressive but better than the rest. We lost via politics not talent.

No. I think it's hilarious how many people in the UK are surprised you got so few points this year and blame it on the politics. Did you happen to notice what sort of a crappy contribution you sent to the contest this year??? It hardly qualifies for the term "song". You can do MUCH better than this. Europe didn't "gang up" on you and this has nothing to do with politics. You simply had one of the worst "songs" this year and got as many points as you earned.

The results are completely predictable every year. Each country´s ex-pats will vote for their homeland, whether the song is good or not. Or, people vote for the neighbouring countries, irrelevant of their (lack of) talent.
How could DJ BOBO get disqualified in the first round?? It is just because of this!!
This also explains why Turkey gets lots of votes from Germany and France every year, and why Serbia even gets votes from Bosnia, of all countries!!
No offense intended, but I didn´t really like the UK song at all, it just wasn´t original. But they have had good songs in the past.
I don´t even bother to watch the voting anymore. It only gets on my nerves, and wastes my time.

Ukraine should have won it! Verka Serduchka's performance was brilliant. Please just do not say it is all because of former Soviet block. You could see that the public was on their feet right from the begining. They liked it very much!
The UK entry was good but it looked a bit like a promotion of UK airlines.

"It's been a wonderful evening.
Not musically, of course..."
Terry Wogan,
Why not do away with the songs and just let everyone vote for their political allies?
Just bizarre, just bizarre.
And Spluurch for the UK were awful. I liked the Bulgarian drums, even if their lyrics were repetitive.
