I have a 1994 firebird auto trans. When i first start to drive it, it is very sluggish, but if i put it into first instead of drive it does fine. The transmission was recently serviced, the fluid is clean and full. Any ideas what might be causing the problem, and how to fix it?

Why did you change the transmission fluid in the first place?

I drive a Chevy truck with 211,000 miles on it and have NEVER changed the fluid.

Take it back and have the tranny rebuilt.

Take it to a transmission shop and have it checked out. There is nothing you can do to it yourself. Most likely it is a sticking valve in the valve body.

Try adding transmission fluid
