Because Sylers gifts are absorbed they arn't originally his. Technically Peter has Sylers gift already. They both actually have the same gift to absorb anothers power...the only difference is that Syler kills the hero in order to absorb the power, Peter just has to be near that person. Peter might actually have Sylers power but why kill heroes if you don't have to?

He DID absorb them. The thing is, with Sylar's many gifts, Peter cannot tap into them because he doesn't know he has them. Only if they happen automatically will he know he was near someone with those powers.

He did get Sylar's powers! When Peter went to see Mohinder, Sylar used his power to pin him to the wall. He was about to cut open his head, but Peter stopped him by using Sylar's power of moving things**, and I don't recall him having those powers before he went near Sylar. Love the show, by the way.

I think he DOES---that's how he stopped most of the flying glass.
I think he'll use the "metal melt" thing to fix Hiro's sword.
(even tho I don't think Hiro NEEDS the sword, it only gives him confidence).
MAN I love that show!!!!
