Detention for 30 minutes just for talking too much in class? usually only worth a lecture on how not to talk but a detention? for a half hour?

You did the crime and now you have to pay the time. 30 minutes isn't that much at all. That's actually pretty lucky compared to other punishments. Count your blessings and next time show more respect towards your teacher. You are in class for a reason, and that reason is not to chat with your friends.

30 minutes isn't a long time and maybe lectures just don't work on you. Just don't talk so much in class because some of your classmates may actually be interested in the lesson.

Sounds like you have been warned before and this was the action they thought would make you understand that talking in class too much is not acceptable.
If you do not get this concept expect more consequences.

It was disrespectful to the teacher and the other students who were there to learn, not to hear you chatter. I think the detention was deserved.

guess it does not matter what we think... guess you should have been listening in class, then you would not have had to worry about any kind of detention

Jus' the way some of the authority figures are wired..
Sometimes we jus rub them the wrong way and they make us pay..
