I have my garden tilled. I had clay soil so I added gypsum and a little sand. Its about 4 inches in some spots, 6 inches in other spots, so do I need to till deeper? Planting just about everything. I have some seedlings ready to go in and I have some packets of seeds. What do I need to do to this soil? Does it need to set for a few days after tilling or is it best to put plants in right away? Also, do I water the dirt first to make it moist? Or plant them in dry ground and then water after?
Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. I have a very large garden, large enough for a family of nine. (hopefully).

I have one word for you...COMPOST!!!....I use composted leaves and grass and house hold plant waste....Also, once you plant your seedlings MULCH!!... that holds the mostiure in the soil and also enriches your soil as compost when it decomposes....

very large garden if you have a lot of clay in your garden i would mix in some peet moss with the sand,some top soil,with a little fertilizer that will keep the soil from compacting to much and help your produce better a good idea is to till yuor garden at least once every other week so it will not compact so much -you can start planting whenever you want to start after you prepare the soil
