No people are compared everyday to someone living or dead. In your family it might be oh, look at him he looks just like his uncle Robert.
She is smart just like her cousin Rachel and will probably wind up going to the same college.
In basketball Kobe Bryant is often compared to Michael Jackson.
So to put a visual in someone's mind is not uncommon.
