I remember reading in a book that they sell aquarium thermostats. The heater is connected to the thermostat, and turns it on. Then it turns it off when it reaches a desire temperature, and turns it on when it falls to a set temperature. Does anyone know where I can buy something similar to this? Thanks!

Those are very difficult to find any more because most heaters now have built in thermostats. Some use a simple bimetal strip and you can't set the exact temperature except by trial and error. Slightly more expensive heaters have thermostats that you can set to a specific temperature. It would be far cheaper for you to purchase a heater with such a thermostat built in rather than trying to by the heater and thermostat separately.

most heaters already have automatic thermostats. meaning they regulate the water temperture where you set it automatically.
You can buy a heater (with a thermostat) at any pet store that has aquarium suplies. you can also check walmart.

Check your local pet store. They might have something. I just use a strip thermometer that you put on the outside of the tank.
