And before you even finish the question you realize you aren't really interested in the answer?
Do you tune them out because you know you won't continue with the topic, or do you feel obligated to give them your full attention?

It does happen more than most people think, however, if you ask a question, and they reply, the least you can do is listen to their answer. It is good manners. You may forget it in 5 minutes, but pay attention and thank them for their answer. . .

im sure its happened. but since i didn't care, i didn't remember it. i bet i would feel obligated to listen. unless i just wanted an awkward silence to be over, so i just asked them to talk randomly

yeah, mostly when i'm trying to make "polite" conversation. Ironic that i so rudely tune them out when trying to be polite huh?

i just ask random questions to hear their responses. but after it gets off the first page i kinda forget about it.
