There were a number of people, in Germany, who stood up to him, but you also have to ask WHY so many people did not. It was not simply a matter of fear, especially not at first. He was a very charismatic leader who led the country out of their Great Depression 5-10 years before Roosevelt led us out of ours. That says something. And, Roosevelt is almost deified in this country, how much more so was Hitler in Germany who saved his people from suffering so much more rapidly. You might want to check out the story of Gen. Rommel in Germany and the plot to kill Hitler. It's fascinating stuff and will show you that yes, a lot of people stood up to him.
