I like the song. I thought it was very catchy. I don't know if you notice but the word Iris is not heard on the song. :)

Yes it is an awesome song i remember when i was younger every night my mom and dad would go out cruising and it would seem to be on the radio every night. every time i here it i think about those memories that i can never go back to. oh and by the way here's how Johnny got the song title. I'll tell the story of the song too. Johnny said "Iris was actually a story that was sat in front of me and i had to kind of tell how i would feel if i was that person in that situation." The title, "iris" has nothing to do with the song itself. The story is sorta like this. so John has written iris, right? And he can't figure out a song title, right? so he's looking through the L.A. Weekly 1 day and he sees that a singer named Iris Diment was playing a gig that night. So he thought that it would be very clever and very portentous of him if he called the song iris.

The instrumentals in the music are heavily pushed by way of guitar riffs and violins, with a comfortable drum beat under. The lyrics tell the tale of an unknown guy or woman's desire to be frequently used by way of the item of his love. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, he seeks to stay away from the interest of others because of the fact of achieveable repercussions. The topic of those lyrics ties in directly to the action picture, wherein an angel falls in love with a mortal woman, and would basically stay along with her by way of giving up his angelic nature and starting to be mortal. It replaced into the 1st music that the Goo Goo Dolls were asked to place in writing specially for a action picture. Songwriter Johnny Rzeznik has been quoted as asserting he broke numerous years of author's block and a number of of different years of sobriety concurrently the night he wrote this song.
