Do NOT go to john robert powers! They will just take your money. Find a reputable acting workshop in your city and start taking classes to hone your craft. Also go on as many auditions as possible. You can find them online by googling "auditions in_(your city)_"
The only way to get serious about your acting is to get out and JUST DO IT!
Also check out these books:

) The Actors menu by Bill Howey (Hands down absolutely the best acting how to book EVER. Bill is a phenomenal acting coach in LA. He was phenomenal here in Denver too, but he moved)

2) Audition by Michael Shurtleff (every actors bible. Broadway casting director Michael Shurtleff goes in depth about everything you need to know before you walk into an audition)

Remember though, "To go into acting is like asking for admission into an insane asylum. Anyone may apply but only the certifiably insane are admitted" -from Audition by Michael Shurtleff. Break a leg!

HPWombat (great name!) makes good points. First, forget about the Catching Fire thing - it's not going to happen. The only people who will even get to audition for any movies, TV shows, big stage plays, commercials, etc, are established actors with good agents. Acting camps are fun, but not nearly enough. To get an agent you'd have to have been attending a really good stage school for at least a couple of years, and have taken leading roles in a wide variety of stage plays. As for your parents, they probably understand the reality of the world of acting - very few actors ever get more than 2 or 3 weeks' paid acting work a year. The rest of the time they all have ordinary jobs just to pay their rent and living expenses. And they're all very talented, dedicated, hardworking people who want to be actors every bit as much as you do. Typically, an actor will only get invited to one out of 100 auditions they apply for. And out of every 100 the get to attend, they'll only win one or two small roles. That's honestly how tough it is. If you're still serious, get into a good weekly class, also take singing and dance lessons. Work really hard at school so you can get enough qualifications to get a good, well-paid job you can work free-lance to support yourself and be able to keep auditioning when you're older. Aim for a place at university or a top drama school when you leave high school - that's what most successful actors have done, and should reassure your parents that you're serious. But until you've had all that training, you're not going to get an agent and you're not going to get any auditions - there are far too many other kids out there who have been at top stage schools since they were 6 years old, all ready to fight for every tiny role that comes up. Good luck!

Agents want to see an acting résumé that includes more than your name and contact information.

You need substantial acting roles, preferably as the LEAD actor.

Ask your parents to take you to the community theater in the city where you live and ask if you can be a volunteer at the theater.
