If it quite is merely a sprint, fill it up with unleaded and it could be superb, could 'pink' a sprint If it quite is lots: oh sh1t, call the AA, RAC, whoever - they're going to come and suck it out. in case you have became the engine over with that gunk in it, the motor vehicle's entire gadget will could desire to be flushed. FFS, do no longer attempt beginning the engine. i might get some expert suggestion first. BTW: whilst the RAC, etc suck each and every of the gunk out of autos the place human beings have put in the incorrect gasoline, did you comprehend they sell it to the army to apply in tanks? Tanks can run on almost something, so a mix of diesel and petrol is superb. So there you bypass.

Take it for a run. Burn it off - the diesel will thin at a decent temperature. the damage (if any) will occur when you start it. My brother has a diesel - he had a very similar problem after putting in bio diesel. My brother has bubbles in a bit of plastic pipe and it looked like it was frothing - so you could well be right.

Read your cars manual, it should say.
I know if you put petrol in a diesel car, up to a point, it will be ok. The advice I would give to the reverse of your situation is to fill the rest of the tank with the correct fuel type.
You could always syphon all the fuel out!?

You would have been better if you had drained the fuel tank completely. Mixing petrol and diesel is not a good combination, especially with modern day car engines.
Don’t do it! Petrol has a high combustion rate and a petrol engine needs this to function correctly. Mixing in a diesel slosh could damge your engine. Don’t ever mix petrol with diesel fuel.

Given the small percentage of diesel, you may get away with it. Just keep diluting with unleaded.
I would be interested to learn how this happened; the diesel pumps (in UK, anyway) have a larger diameter nozzle than for unleaded, so it should not have fitted in your fuel hole.

I have put diesel in my car and it was okay. I only put a small amount in and filled it up with petrol when I realised. It burned smokey and didnt have as much power but it was okay. I was told I would need to change my spark plugs but didnt have to.

THe diesel will burn at a higher temp than the petrol and cause serious engine damage. You should have emptied your tank without starting the car, as soon as you realised your mistake! Good luck though, perhaps you're going to get away with it this time
