For those who said catcher and/or pitcher, I agree.
I'm gonna say pitcher is harder because you from 60' 6" away, you've gotta be right on. You can win or lose a game for your team. It's all pressure when you're a pitcher. If you don't throw those strikes, you're done, and that's hard! There's more to it that makes it one of the hardest positions [along with catcher], but that's the main thing...accuracy is a hard thing to acheive and if you can become a great pitcher, you're a great baseball player!

Catcher. No ifs ands or buts. Consider these:
1) Physically difficult - crouching down for 9 innings.
2) Physically challenging - being able to make a snap throw to a base to catch a runner off.
3) Mentally challenging - many parts to this, but let's start with:
a) knowing the batter's strengths and weaknesses and having your pitcher make the "correct" pitch.
b) knowing the runners' tendencies - whether they try to steal bases, and when, and what signs to look for
c) being able to calm down your pitcher after a bad pitch
4) Let's face it - do YOU want to try to catch a 97 mph fastball? Or have a bat hit your helmet? Or a ball fouled off your shin?
5) What, not enough? Consider, then, that you also have to be able to hit and run bases effectively; know the tendencies of all your pitchers; be able to adjust to each pitch and catch them all; and oh yeah, be prepared to be decked if you're blocking the plate as the runner is coming home.

Catcher. No doubt.

2.You're more apt to broken fingers
3.It's hot under all the protection.
4.Your in on every play.

Spectator, because you have all the answers but can't do anything about it. The ball is flying in the outfield and you can almost touch it, but you can't! Your heart is racing to make the play but there is nothing you can do. You get all the highs and lows but no real physical activity to release the tension.

Pitcher. You have one success metric: get hitters out, prevent runs.

Position players can get by either by hitting well OR playing sterling defense; granted a mix is preferred, but there's been guys on any roster strictly for their hitting or fielding (or in rare cases, baserunning -- thanks for that steal, Dave Roberts). If you suck at one you can fall back on the other.

Pitchers don't have that grace. Get 'em out or pack your bags.

3rd base is tough because you have to be quick to field the ball and then throw the ball to 1st to make the play.
