You'll want to wear a tampon if you go in the pool. Seriously. And it doesn't hurt to use them. Personally, I prefer to just use pads but it doesn't hurt at all and once it's in there you can't even feel it.

NO its not okay to swim in just your bathing suit. If you do use a tampon and you put it in correctly, it shouldnt and wouldnt hurt. If you do put it in the wrong way, it will hurt like HELL! so dont. Your mom knows why she has not let you use a tampon before. She has her own reasons. Also, you can get out of swimming by saying you have a stomach ache. At your age, nobody should question your decisions. And if they do, they dont respect your privacy, at your age, you do deserve some personal privacy. My dad used to question me about it until I blurted out that I didnt want to do anything because I was on my period. Since then, I use the excuse that i have a stomach ache. Works all the time and gives you a reason to eat alot of chocolate. LOL!
You cant wear a pad in the pool because it cant absorb that much water, its best just not to go. You may end up leaving a trail of blood if you do go in a pad. Or without one for that matter.
HOpe this helps
And have fun

You have every right to use the products that are available for this & It is a bit disgusting to get in a pool and let your um, flow seep into your bathing suit or shorts then into the pool water. What does your mom expect you to do? Dip your feet and not get wet? But let me tell you. I waited to use tampons until I was 25, and the doctor told me I had to use them for a month before she could examine me so I could naturally "stretch" a little and the exam would not hurt so much. I just never tried them. Didn't swim, didn't wear small shorts...nothing.SO-- your answer
Wearing a tampon doesn't hurt, but it may be a bit uncomfortable if you don't get it uh, adjusted until you don't feel it. It can't get lost tho, I swear there are muscles and such that will keep it where it should be. My suggestion is ask her if you can try them this once and use it for an hour then change back to a pad. Maybe she's concerned about toxic shock syndrome...a disease you can get if you wear one for a very long time and don't follow the directions for use as it were. Or, if you can, buy some yourself and try it out. It's a bit awkward but get plastic applicator they are smoother than regular because regular ones are like very small cardboard and not exactly comfortable to try the first time. Read the directions, then relax and try it, then get out there and enjoy the pool!! If you are honest with your mom, you don't want to embarass yourself in the pool with things as they are & Hopefully she will explain her reasons for saying no, or allow you to make your own choice.

You must wear a tampon while swimming. All of your period wastes are not going to magically disappear just because you are swimming. Tampons can be worn by virgins. They do not hurt, they do not take away your virginity. They do not go far enough inside of you to tear your hymen so they are safe for virgins. If you are able to start using them then you will want to start with the teen tampons. They are slimmer and smaller than others and made just for you! If the tampon is uncomfortable when you insert it then you have it in wrong. Follow the instructions on the package and it may take a few tries but you will get it right! Did you ask your mom why she prefers you don't use them? She can call your Dr and get the same answers from him/her that I have posted here if it will make her feel better. Maybe mom does not want you to use them as there is a lot of bad press about tss? If you only use them when swimming and use them properly you should be fine!
Best of luck in your talk with your mom.

If you should ever be allowed to wear tampons I would recommend the kind from Ob because there is no applicator to worry about. The idea of using something like KY jelly is a good idea for lubrication. When I used to use tampons I had to insert one finger into my vagina and then insert the tampon that way. You will feel some cramping if the angle isn't right for the insertion.
I didn't start wearing tampons til after I was 18 years old. The reason that your mom may not want you to wear tampons is because you may be too young for them right now (guessing here as to why she may not want you to wear them, just ask her some time-respectfully of course). I had to stop using tampons due to a medical condition unrelated to the tampon itself.
As for going swimming and not having anything on when you go in it should be ok but please make sure that when you come out that you soak the area where the blood will be. Soak it in cold water as that will help break up the stain so that it doesn't set in.

The only reason, Pink, that I can think of that your mother will not let you wear a tampon is that, the tampon enters your vagina like a man's penis, thus breaking the hymen. That is, if you have a hymen. It's a piece of skin that covers the opening--your vagina. Keeping the hymen intact, in many cultures, is regarded as virginity. Once the hymen is broken, the women is said to have lost her virginity. Although, the hymen can be broken/stretched in several ways, one, being stretching exercises, it really cannot be proved or disproved.
Anyway, that's my theory behind your mother's concern.
To answer your question, for some, the tampon may feel a bit uncomfortable at first, especially if you're a virgin, because your vagina will need to stretch a bit to allow the tampon to be inserted with the string hanging down and outside of your vagina, but if you use the slender tampons, this will work to your favor. Talk to your mother as wearing nothing will most likely cause a period spillage in your bathing suit bottoms and you want to avoid this. You don't have muscles to prevent spillage just like you have muscles to prevent you from urinating. I would talk to your mother. Tell her your concerns. If she cares about your concerns, she must take all into consideration and let you wear a tampon. Besides, she or at least, your grandmother will need to show you how to properly insert a tampon. It's their job to do so.
Good luck, sweetie.

I don't think ur grandma would appreciate it if u bled in her pool, love, lol.
But all jokes aside, it doesn't hurt when u insert a tampon. They are made of soft cotton and there's a size for everyone. Keep asking ur mum to allow u to wear tampons. They are so much more convenient than pads. As long as u change them every 3 or 4 hours, u should be fine. There IS a chance of contracting toxic shock syndrome, but that's fairly rare in tampon wearers, and if u change them frequently then u'll be fine. I always wear a pad as well as a tampon in case of leaks, but that's just my opinion.
Tampons are easy to insert, as well. Just relax and get into a position that's comfortable for u (ur foot up on the toilet seat, or standing with legs slightly apart, whatever is more comfortable for u), then hold the labia (flaps) apart with one hand and gently insert the tampon all the way back, till u feel a slight resistance, usually the full length of ur finger. If it's inserted correctly, u won't be able to feel it. If it's uncomfortable, just take it out and try again. It takes a bit of practise but u'll get it right.
Good luck, love.

If your flow is very light you could wear nothing, but remember that you may bleed into the pool & that would be embarrasing for you & your fellow swimmers. Ask your mother about finding some "slim" tampons. They make tampons especially for young women. Be sure to read the instructions before inserting the tampon. If you have the angle correct, you will not be very uncomfortable. If it does feel a little uncomfortable you can use some water soluble lubricating gel, like KY. Go talk to your mom again and explain about the swimming. She'll probably go along with the tampon idea.

If your on your period you have to wear something. Or there are going to be some people know you are bleeding somewhere. You could wear a tampon in the pool and it should feel ok if you insert it right. The directions are in the box. I just dont think my first time on wearing a tampon would be in the pool.

For me, it all depends on the brand you use. But they shouldn't hurt, just don't worry about it. There's a first time for everything and i think you should try it. Once you wear one you get used to it, and you end up wearing them every time you start. I used to just wear pads but i learned tampons are more comfortable. And plus, sometimes when you wear the big pads, I've noticed that they kind of make the back of your pants stick out!
