how are objects magnified under water? is it due to the refraction of the visible light waves?
i need more of an explanation, and a good website or two, please help me!

Things are not magnified under water unless you're looking through a curved glass surface (like a spherical fish bowl). Then, it's the same principle as a magnifying glass.
