Here is a hint for solving percent word problems. Reduce the problem to its simpliest form so that it matches this:
A IS B% OF C
This problem becomes:
7576.8 is 8% of Great Lakes
Now substitute is with =, of with x, and change % to decimal
7576.8 = .08 x G
G = 94710

This technique works well for most any word problem. Look for the words "is" and "of". They almost always translate to = and x.

a= p% x b

7576.8 mi² = 0.08*b

b = (7576.8 mi² ) / 0.08

b = 94,710 mi²
