Which heritage are you talking about? Greek? Roman? Norse? The Arabian Nights? Native American? The Brothers Grimm? There are a LOT of really cool stories out there. Here are a few you can check out:
1) Greek: the origins of Athena
2) Roman: Amor and Psyche
3) Norse: The origins of Thor
4) the Arabian Nights: Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves
5) Native American: the creation of the world (Hopi--look for "spider woman)
6) The Brothers Grimm (note, I include this one because ALL the collected stories date back to medieval oral tradition, a criteria for it to be "mythology"): Maria's child

i could do the tale of Arachne. I crochet, so it quite is my widespread of the greek myths. I even have indexed a solid link to the tale and so which you will get the bases of it. It provides an foundation to weaving and the fabric arts. I even have been crocheting when you consider that i became 9 and that's my one real pastime different than my husband.
