Depends on whether the Republicans or the Democrats can successfully talk to the people in the middle. Of course the Democrats have the advantage because of the high disapproval of the current Republican president, but I don't think it is a lock.
Neither party currently resonates loudly with the middle. Also, we don't know who will be the nomination for each party. It is way too early to tell what will change...
Also, Bill Clinton dipped to 36% according to the same polls that put Bush at 28%.

No, I think the disaster of candidates the democrats have put together virtually insures a Republican victory in 08'. Over 50% of the country would not vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstances (realclearpolitics 5/11/07) The only other candidate with any shot is Barack Obama and he is short on experience. Give him til 2012 and he will be a real viable candidate. The rest of the bunch are who's and whats and LOL's. Guliani will win it even if the conservatives have to swallow hard, they'll do it just to beat the dem's.

I hope the answer is yes, but I fear the answer is no. I think the current distance that other Republicans are creating is a ploy to make us think that the party is falling apart and will be a weak target. These guys are not stupid and they don't like to lose and they have no trouble playing dirty. I do not want to get complacent on this. Again, I hope the answer is yes, but I plead to all hope-minded-people not to let this make them complacent. They sucker-punched us with John Carey and, to some extent, with Al Gore. I hope against experience that we will have learned from those mistakes.

I think it is very likely that in 2008 the Democrats will win the presidency and have majorties so strong in both houses of Congress as to prevent filibuster. Essentially the Dems will have the "blank check" power enjoyed by the GOP from 2000-2006. It will be interesting to see if they can keep that power for more than 2 years.

Democrats now control both the House and Senate but not by enough seats in either chamber to dictate policy and that is as it should be.
Even if there is a Democrat President in 2008, I doubt any party will get everything they want. That is the nature of Democracy.
Viewing our government along party lines is exactly what politicians want us to do. They will point us away from what is really going on. It's "magic", the "art of misdirection".
Voters need to look past party label, red and white, conservative, liberal, moderate and look at results.

what with all the corruption of the Bush administration How can the republicans not win. All you bible bashing Born againers will make sure that the Republicans will win and say it is the lords will, you will get convicts to vote and you discard all black peoples votes and you will rig the elections just like you have done for the last eight years.

It's to soon to tell, the GOP has a lot of cards up their sleeves, never mind the dirty tricks. The Dem's never miss a chance to miss a chance, never mind their proclivity to form a circular firing squad

The winner of the Democratic Primary will be the next President, yes.
Those of you who live in states with open primaries should keep that in mind.

As a New Yorker, I can tell you that most of us Hate Rudy. In fact on Sept.10 2001 there was a sign across the street from my building that said"We hope Rudy Dies like a pig". So he will not win NY.
