How can you check to see if a power window motor in a 88 silverado works while it is still in the door?

Take off the door trim panel and find the harness going to the motor...disconnect it from the motor and run a power wire from the battery to one of the terminals on the motor or if it has a pigtail connector, to one of those terminals. You may want to attach the wire leads and run them outside the door and jump to power from there so your arm is not in the door. I'm not sure but I believe the motor grounds through the door so there should be two wires---one is power up and one is power down.....if there's a third black wire, it's probably ground.
