Hehe yeah, I used to do that too because I was never really into the whole science fair thing. Here's one idea that could work for you and you can use the internet to get the specifics. One science fair I actually took the idea behind the potato clock and then applied it to other fruits and veggies. I tried to determine which fruit and veggies worked best by checking out the amount of electric energy put out and measured it by using an electrical meter. Got an A+ off of that one. For my last year's science fair project i did what hair product makes your hair dye the fastest and the best. I used to products and i used my actual hair to do it so anyways I cut two stripes of hair from my head and l put it in foil. I got to bowls and put the hair color ingredients in one of the bowls l used bleach and some other hair color. My hair is black so i dyed it lighter so i turned it blond. I mixed the ingredients together than put the first one on the first stripe of hair, and putted the second bowl mixed with bleach and color stuff (i don't remember what it is called though). I put that one on the second hair stripe of hair than i set a timer for 20 minutes and once the 20 minutes were over i would check the stripes of hair. Then 30 mins, 40 mins, and so on until the hair color turns to what you want it to be. At the end one of my stripes of hair was blond and the other was brownish blondish but not brown. So you would right about it and tell how fast it took and how the color looked. I hope that helps I thought of that idea all by myself since my mom is an hairstylist. ;) Oh yea that got me 100%, my school doesn't give first second and yea, but it was fun and it got me a good grade.
