Re installing a Pitman arm on a 84 Chev K10?

I just replaced the power steering gear box, I'm trying to reinstall the pitman arm, any suggestions on how to spread the flange opening while the pitman arm is still connected to the steering arm??

Flat chissel tapped into the slot.
Not much though.....

Should pull off with a puller and WD-40 around the shaft--rent or borrow at a parts store.

Use a wedge shaped punch. drive it in slowly and gap should expand. dont spread to far apart or will be hard to tighten down.
