I'm not asking which one has a worse manifestation of vindictiveness, which would have to be men, with the in-person stalking (but, women do plenty of stalking remotely) and murders and all. I'm asking which gender is more likely to be vindictive, rather than neutral or "helpful" after a breakup.

I ask this because I'm reading a "Self-help for women going through a breakup" book, and it spends 2/3 of its content on advising women not to be vindictive, to move on.

Good question. Each case is different. My exhusband is still vindictive after 3 years. It depends on the person's nature. There were a lot of things I found out about him after we had separated that I wasn't aware of in the 30 years that we had been together. It's not in my nature to be vindictive or revengeful and I have moved on.

Its women, they pretend not ot be, but they are soo vindictive. Like the way they mess with you 3 years after the fact. I have female friends that are tyring to mess with their BFs from year ago.

Well, it's a biased sampling, but since I am not vindictive by nature, and I have had exes who dumped me and who I have dumped engage it crass vindictive behavior, I am going to go with females.
But that's anecdotal and not a scientific survey.

depends on how the relationship ended. but personal experience women. they cant take a guy leaving them for another woman.
