People answer questions with questions to get the other person thinking, its a strategy in arguing that is to make the other answer the question, and then understand that their question is void. This is typical also when people dont know the answer to the question asked.

There are times when we ask questions, the answers to which we already know or can realize with a bit of an effort or guess! (given a clue or a hint). For such type of questions people do not want to answer them straight. Instead they wanna ask us "Don't you think this can be the answer??" by framing another question which leads us to the right answer. So people end up answering that way- with a question!
For instance:
Qn: Why do we drink water?
Ans: How do we quench our thirst?
Simple!!!!

why? does that bother you? Do you find it more helpful if people describe their point if view?

Can you ask questions that are less open ended?

Do you think they are trying to draw out your information while hiding their own?

Do you think maybe they have nothing interesting to say but like what you have to say?

Would answering with a poem be better than a question?

Do they ever answer in code?

Do you think they forgot they were answering a question?

Do you believe in music?

Do you believe in Love?

Will it rain today?

Have you seen my dog?

Because the truths of the world are only truly understood when you come to an understanding with them yourself rather than taking another's word for them.

becoz most of the time they dont know the answer therefore they ask a question which might just bring them and you closer to the answer.........especially philosophical questions......its like a never ending debate with no conclusion...........BUT sometimes......u might just find that the answer you are searching for is hidden in the question itself....

It usually means that the original question was not adequately stated in their opinion. They perceive options or ambiguities.
