Definitely hurt. Being an Olympian is one of the greatest accomplishments you can make; after that, what do you need to pose nude for?

I wish that women would never resort to such a thing, yet that is and always will be hers and or the choice of others who do such a thing. Does it help or hurt them? That's an if or question from where I stand. Basically I could care less, most of them are and or were big enough to make the decision they should have the fortitude to live with it. I've read enough of those playboys to last me a life time; they're not always about sex, some have good articles in them, advise columns and the such. They should be read with an open mind; my dad had them.

I think she is doing neither hurting or helping women. Most women do it for exposure or money. I am not saying that is the reason for her. She is a great swimmer and a grown woman so she can make up her own mind and not worry what people think. I know she has to have a great body from all the years of swimming and taking karate classes so why not show it off.

I ran this question by my wife last night. Her feeling is that men will always want to look at scantily clad women, it's just a basic part of our nature as animals with instincts. However, having a very healthy and athletic woman being put forward as an ideal of beauty serves women a lot better than scrawny, sickly models being served up as a goal for women.

So, in the end perhaps this actually send a better message to both men and women, that athletic, healthy women are the most attractive rather than the current anorexia and bulemia inducing standards currently in place.

I think it hurts women athletes. It shows that they don't have to be taken seriously about their sport or cant be taken seriously without also posing for nude magazines.

No matter how accomplished a woman is, if she poses nude, she is in effect saying "My body (and its use as a sexual object) is the most important thing about me."
Good luck
