It could be that the network administrator use MAC filtering. f yes, you should tell your MAC adres to the administrator so he can enable your adres.
You can find it on a windows PC if you open a terminal window and type ipconfig /all
On a Mac, go to systempreferences-> network.

read Airport-ID:
Should be something like xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

if its an old netwrok card it might not support the connection type WPA 2 for example. Otherwise its probably the network key to connect to the network. What operating system are you running? If XP and you are letting windows handle networking then go remote your network from work from the order of connection to preferred networks. if you typed the network key wrong, it will ask you for it again.

Have you run the "Wireless Network Wizard" in the Control Panel? That will normally set up the IP addresses needed and then join you to the wireless networks "workgroup".

You might want to check with your Works IT department as they could have a encryption on it. You can see it but not use it in that case.
