Some of both. I like the professional, no nonsense way Duncan carries himself. But a little bit of personality is fun as long as it does not detract from a player's professionalism. As my wife said after seeing Baron Davis's sick dunk and celebration, "at least act like you've been there before." So long as a player's personality doesn't lessen his play or make him seem as hough he's never before played with the best, I say let them add some flair to the game. Problem is, a lot of players end up focusing on their celebrations more than the game (see Football).

Well, Im white, and i like to see a little energy from the players..But there is no call to act like a bunch of thug wanna-bes either. I like seeing people who play hard, but arn't obnoxious. This is why my favorite player of all time is Reggie Miller. You need some ammount of energy, or else the game would be boring to watch. But, some of the players that just act like "thugs" , no offense to them, but they look/act almost laughable. This is the reason why my two least favorite players are Allen Iverson and Stephen Jackson. But, no. It isn't racism. It's called: trying to get the players to not humiliate themselves in public and make the franchise look bad. Race has nothing to do with it. If there was a white guy that got all tattooed and dressed like an idiot, what would people do? LAUGH AT HIM! Nobody would like him either! The all-time classic song "Pretty fly (for a white guy)" by "The Offspring" comes to mind. Bottom line: All those gangster wannabes do is make the franchise look bad.

Within reason. A little collar popping or staredown is okay but when they start turning the NBA into an "and one" mix tape its poor sportsmanship and it degrades the game. So I say if they do a little thing its cool but if they jump up and down and insult the other player and act like they just knocked out Mike Tyson than T em up, whether they are white or black.

Its an indirect form of racism. They are afraid of the black man controlling the NBA. They already have the face of the NBA, they have to have some kind of control over it so that it takes some of the attention off of the "thugs"...they want the NBA to have a different face and definition and they look at it as getting worse and worse and they have to do things like change the dress code just reassure them that they are still running things.

i hear you white boy. david stern just wants to make the nba look like a bunch of white boys. he restricts everything. who cares how the players dress before the game. you don't watch them then. he even made a rule now that the players have to where shorts one inch above the knee. i don't think any baller wants to look like John Stockton. when the jordan 1's first came out. D. Stern banned them from the NBA because they had too much color. whenever jordan wore them he got fined like 7 grand. D.S. should be fired.

I don't know about most areas. I live in San Francisco so I am exposed to a lot less racism here than in other places, I suppose...SF is ultra-liberal.
And being a Warriors fan, I don't hear many complaints about swagger!!!

All these pro players are is a bunch of thugs and illiterates. They receive a free pass for ANY indiscretion they chose to bestow on society.
Murder, no big thing, he used to play football.
Rape, no big thing, he's a special basketball player. Or, hes a champion boxer.
Gambling, no big thing, hes a special baseball player.
Drugs, no big thing, hes gets paid $800 million to do something kids do on the school grounds for nothing. He has to spend his money on something. He is just doing his part to keep the cocaine trade alive.
Most of these people, if not for professional sports, would be breaking legs on the dock for some loan shark.
I don't watch them, I don't buy their SHlT, in either a figurative or a literal sense. Those who do, support there antics and have NO ONE to blame for it but THEMSELVES.
Have you ever listened to one of these morons being interviewed. "Well, ah you know daa daa you know ah you know". With their money they should hire someone to speak for them.
It is as bad as politics. Perjury, no big thing, it was only sex.
OK, I'm done now. The clock says it's time for my documentary on the History Channel.

Swagger?
They get paid millins of dollars to dunk a ball into a rim that's 2 feet above their head. The tards that puff up their chests after aren't showing swagger...they're looking like idioys.
It's like the NFL...people like LT or Barry Sanders are the best because they hand (handed) the ball to the ref instead of doing the "hey, look at me" dance.
These guys need to get over themselves. It's like someone 5'10 dunking on a 7 foot rim and acting like they're God.
Please.................
