My husband wanted to marry me the moment he met me, is it that the men don't feel this way about the mother of their child? Are they just waiting for something better to come along?
Do some people not have the money for a wedding? Do they not believe in marriage?

What's the reason, I would like to hear from men and women.

No need to get angry, I don't have a problem with it I am just wondering. Mostly curious about what men's reasons are.

let's say they didn't get married right away after getting pregnant, fine, but why don't they do it later on?

There is an epidemic of marriage-phobia spreading around and I'd like to know, too.

"is it that the men don't feel this way about the mother of their child?" Why do you ASSume that it is the man who doesn't want to get married. I never wanted to get married but wanted kids, and had things worked out the way I wanted I would never have gotten married, but would probably have more than one child by now. People don't get married because they don't WANT to get married. Marriage has nothing to do with giving birth and raising children. My parents were married and yet they were crappy parents. I've had friends who's parent's weren't married and they were the very best a parent could ever be. In fact THAT is where I got most of MY parenting skills from them rather than my own parents.

well some people personally don't believe in marriage. I don't think men don't like their mother of their children unless they seriously get annoying because then they probably wouldn't have had children with her. money is an issue for weddings but you can still just get married at a courthouse which won't cost a lot.

Young and immature people want sex and don't take the precautions to deal with the consequences, ie, pregnancy. They soon develop a distorted view of relationships and marriage-- sex is the opening part of it, then walk away from the burden and try another one again, and again.

These days and age, mature people have better chance to have a sustainable marriage. They take time to mature and not take on extra burden early in their life -- complicated relationships and children. They appreciate marriage and relationship better because they are ready.

When my sons father found out I was pregnant he ran. By the time he came back I had moved on with my life and did not want to marry him. Now that my son is 34 and happy I know I did the right thing.

It's the extreme liberals and the Hollywood crowd who is promoting that ridiculous activity. Also, there is a contempt for marriage that has been cultivated by the liberal agenda to destroy our country by destroying the family.

This all goes with the "living together" mentality, which is for the most idiotic of people. Having a child without being married is derived from this basic horrible premise.

Yes, "out of wedlock" is the PROPER expression. I have never accepted the word "significant other" into my vocabulary, nor should you. Also, "boyfriend, fiance" and other terms have lost their original meaning, and have been used to describe a pig that someone is living with.

I didn't marry my ex because to me, marriage was nothing more than a piece of paper and a name change. I wasn't brought up in a religious home so the whole "what God has joined together" thing didn't matter to me, or him.

People feel that marriage is a big commitment. They're scared to settle down...even if they have children together. Everyone has their own different reasons though and I don't think there's one answer to your question.

My significant other and I have been together 13 years, have 5 kids and are not married. We made a commitment to each other and both honor that. Plain and simple.
