I really think there can be and I hope it happens more often than one might think. For me, it happens with my best friend all the time because we actually take the time to understand each other's perspective, which, when we actually examine it, isn't all that different although our lives themselves are are very different.

When two people realize that we as humans are very much alike, I think it's a natural process that we learn how to respectfully disagree.

Welcome to my world... Design...

I go through this every day with PCA's... It is amazing how 70 different desings can do the same thing in the end...
Around here I just call it 'agreeing to disagree, yet advancing to a workable resolution'.

It also happens all the time on stage... Like for a mic. I'm so not going to put an SM57 for say Sting, but I'd rather place a Sennheiser. But Sting may see the SM57 as a time proven, road worthy mic, We disagree *ya... I know I'd NEVER disagree with that guy* But let's say we would disagree and along comes the senior sound man from FOH... He says either one would do and the true result will come from the PMD5 at FOH where he is mixing...

See... We disagreed, but it didn't matter in the end, because the results would be the outcome of a seperate matrix of settings... and either way you get a great result.

Why do I always take it to music...

yah, i thenk if its about what makes a person happy. in the same situation, doing what makes one the happiest can be opposite things ♥ uh, like comming out to ur parents. for some people, they feel like they are living a lie and its a burden to keep it from their parents. others find that the pressure from their parents wud be too much and they wud rather wait until they move out. both are right for the individuals situation. some things also may be wrong for one person and not another. and some things are universally wrong. it depends on the situation..i thenk

Yes, when different people view the same evidence, they often disagree and come to different conclusions. Considering their different purposes, cultural background, education, life experience, geographic location, etc., they can both be right.

in a contextual or relational or relative argument it can and does happen all the time but in an argument about absolutes...? hmm... I can't think of an example in that situation where both parties could be correct...

Yes. My wife insisted that I was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I demurred out of modesty. Were we both right and wrong?
