I notice that she is really vindictive. She verbally attacks people and tries to make them look bad. I have noticed her doing that with me, and even my father, but I also saw her do that with her own daughter recently. She has a tendency to turn very mean with the people close around her. It can be overt, but sometimes it is just plain sneaky. She says things that are designed to embarass the person she is talking to or make them look bad, but she acts innocent when she is doing it. And what is worse is that she does this when the other person is not actually doing anything to her and is being civil. Also, I notice she is unusually attached to my father. Even a bit obsessive. Any guesses as to whether there is a technical name in psychology for a woman like this?

u dont need a name or label-ur dad just needs to get away!!!!!technically speaking, ocd doesnt usually mean an obssessive attachment or possesiveness-ocd is more about odd b,intrusive thoughts and repetative rituals-most sufferersare too busy counting cieling tiles or washing their hands, etc to have the emotional energy to focus on a person.try looking up "narcissistic/hystrionic/borderline personality disorders."this sounds more like what ur dealing with.pop psyche to the contrary, depressive and ocd individuals are usually not like what u have described.my (very)educated guess would be-borderline personality disorder.but only a dr could diagnose for sure.look it up-u will recognise her!

She could either be insecure or just naturally not a nice person. If you care for your father, help him by letting him know that he and the people around him (you, other friends, family) don't deserve to get her treatment. He subjects himself, you, other friends and family to her treatment because he's still with this woman. Alternatively, you could voice out her problem in front of your father and other friends or family who have experienced her treatment and ask her to explain herself for these treatments. Nothing to be ashamed about, if she is thick skinned enough to do something like that while acting all innocent, then it shouldnt be a problem for her to explain her actions. Take a stand against this woman and her attitude. It's for the better of everyone.

Borderline personality disorder/Antisocial personality disorder. Check your library or online for a DSM-IV which is a book psychiatrists use to get their diagnostic criteria. I am sure you will find an even more specific disorder for this woman. I hope, if she is 1/2 of what you say she is, your dad will run for his life.

Basically, this is just a very insecure person who bolsters herself by putting others down. I'm sure there's a term...but I don't know it. Bottom line: I hope your father wises up soon. No one will escape this woman.
