Notice I said illegal aliens, not guest workers, or undocumented people. Their first act here is to break our immigration laws. Do we throw up our hands and say there is no answer or do we secure our borders and stop people from just walking in illegally? What do you want to see done in this comprehensive fix of the problem?

Don't just draw a line in the sand and say stay over there. Build and defend a strong border. Get serious with illegals by kicking them out and severely punishing them if they come back. And then go after the jerks that are helping to bring them over here. Fines, Jail, whatever it takes to stop the rampant insurgency of illegals. If they are legal, I have NO problem with them.

Insstitute a guest worker program--and allow the illegal immigrants a limited time period to register in it as long as they are acutally working and haven't broken other laws.

Then the flow of people will be manageable and securing the border won't be difficult.

A good place to start would be to crack down on businesses that knowingly employ illegal aliens. If there are no jobs to be had, then securing the border will be much easier than it is now. Of course there is the drug traffic issue, they're not coming across to get jobs, getting across the border is their job.
