There are MANY factors that go onto learning a back handspring.
Can you do a bridge? a handstand? a backbend and pull up to standing? a backbend and then kick over? a front limber? a front walkover? a back walkover? a back arabian? a front handsping? (On the floor, not on a trampoline)

As a gymnastics teacher all of these questions have to be answered yes, or at least very close, before I will start teaching you a back handspring. Your body has to be strong enough and flexible enough to handle the jumping and landing that the back handspring requires.

Just because you can do one on the trampoline does not mean you will do it on the ground, I train my students on the trampoline and on the floor. Many can accomplish the back handspring while on the tramp, but still have difficulty with it on the floor. The tramp gives you all the extra push you need to make it over, once on the floor you have to rely solely on your legs to give you all of the push. It is quite a difference. And if you are not sitting into your prep correctly on the floor, you will not make it over. You can sit and throw it incorrectly on the tramp because the spring makes up for this mistake...but take it to the floor and if you are sitting incorrectly, you'll never make it over.

BUT since you can do it on the tramp, you have half the battle won. Being able to do it on the tramp means that you have trained your body to do the back handspring in the proper position and your body knows what if feels like to go through the handstand and land the feet. So with the proper training it shouldn't take too long to achieve the skill on the floor.

I have seen many kids get hurt trying to do a back handspring without a properly trained spotter. So I never suggest just trying this one on your own. Go to a local gymnastics school and check out some classes. You will have the opportunity to work on this and other skill that you can use in break dancing, AND you will have a qualified instructor there to help you out so you don't hurt yourself.

Get any one to identify you. Don't omit to take a seat. A lot of individuals best bounce out of the roundoff after they begin studying this ability. You have got to pass backward and up, now not simply up. Going immediately up will intent you to hesitate or land on their head.

You need a spotter to learn this safely. However, you can be working on some skills at home that will improve your back handspring once you get that spotter to work with you:
