In every reaction, 2 things must occur for a reaction to proceed.

1. There must be enough energy (activation energy) so that the molecules will "stick" and react when they collide.

2. The molecules must be facing the right way when they collide.

If either of the above doesn't happen, the molecules bounce back like billiard balls.

This will be true for CO2 and water as with any other system

baking soda inside a clay vocano... add vingagar... 5-3 of the amount of baking soda... never did it... but i saw it done...
