Buy some chain oil at the hardware store. If you talking about the chain on a bicycle. If your taking about a motorcycle buy chain oil from a motorcyle shop. anything else will distroy the chain and weaken it.

Do not put cooking oil in your bike!!! It will not keep it cool enough and you will damage the motor.

cooking oil cools and gets pasty and gummy not a lubricant. you need lube not cooking oil big difference if it were the same they would say so and you could have dual purpose oil.

I would use it...However some WD-40 would probably work better, and the smell won't stay as long.
