in addition to some of the answers (thanks) would it still not be possible even if i got a work permit from the school + council?

Yes you can, however you are covered by the regulations concerning under age workers. It is called a Weekend Job, normally you will be allowed to work up to 16 hours a week only, only an hour or twos work a day after school or anytime between certain hours over non school days.

Edited, No even with permits you wouldn't, the stores won't allow under 16s more than the rules. Also trying to get work permits is all but impossible. Get a job you can do at your age like a paper round or something, or someone who'll bend the rules...

A mahor reason is hours you can legaly work they're not long enough to make it worthwhile for a supermarket even if you made everything ok for you to work there, remember they're usually oversubscribed with over 16s wanting to work there.
