Ok here is the deal...
I am a 6th grader, 11 years old. Math is definetly me forte! When I get older, I am 110% sure my job will involve math! Ok, so I need some advice. This year I am in pre- algebra(for 7th graders), so i am ahead! Now, I have to chose between going to algebra NEXT YEAR(which is for 8th graders, so I would still be ahead next year) or algebra HE (which is for advaced 8th graders and will learn the same stuff as algebra, but the pace will be a bit quicker)! I DO NOT KNOW! I do not want Algebra to be too easy! But then I do not want Algebra HE to be too hard (SO THEN I WOULD FALL BEHIND!) I NEED HELP! I HAVE TO CHOOSE BY MONDAY! HELP!
P.S. I AM NOT A NERD! I AM HOT! I LOVE TO PARTY! BUT I WANT TO BE RICH LATER ON!

i talways think that people should strive to work hard. That means that you should go hard in whatever you do. I think you should test yourself a little and do HE. I did that and I am hot. I live in Sacramento California and am... fairly rich. My house cost probably 3 times what yours costs now. I think its cool to be ahead, so go ahead!
P.S. You sound VERY smart

Okay I have no idea why your question is in 'homework help' but here goes:
Firstly, this kind of stuff cannot be decided by other people, or specifically strangers who have no idea what exactly is your math capabilities. I know you told us that you are good at math, but 'good' in your terms may not be exactly the same thing in the minds of others.
Do you have a teacher staying nearby or do you have his/her number? Call your teacher up NOW to find out if you really are up for the challenge.
Or, you can discuss this with your parents or siblings if you like. If you now somebody in advanced algebra, even better!
Personally, I think you should take it slow. Number 1 reason: You are only 11. You really need not put yourself into this sort of stress when you are so young and like you said, you like to 'party'. If you are so confident that 8th grade slower algebra will be a no kick for you, then GREAT! Go for it! You can impress everyone in your school and maybe then your teacher may decide to put you in another class. No matter what it is, it is ALWAYS better to pick the choice that will guarantee you success. Challenges may be fun, but when you have a good alternative and your conditions are favourable (like your age), then pick that one.
Especially since you have no experience in real algebra yet. Trust me, I did pre-algebra when I was your age too but NOTHING prepared me for the real thing. True, I live in a different country probably but algebra was quite tough when I was 8th grade. Just take it slow, and when you have the foundations, then POW! Go for super advanced 9th grade algebra or something.
Good luck! Relax, and keep your options open for your future, or you will suffocate in your own ambition.

Algebra HE--If you stay motivated and use the resources available for support (teacher, tutoring, etc.) you will make it.
In the event that it is too much for you, there is probably an option of changing classes after the first month or so of class. Schools want children to be successful and will typically work with you to make sure that you are in the class that fits you best.
By the way, the nerds are the ones who usually end up rich--ask anyone who's been to a 10 or so yr. class reunion. The people that were considered "nerdy" are often the ones who have made the most out of their lives.

1. Will they let you sit in on a few algebra HE classes to monitor them so as to see if you can keep up with the pace
before this school year ends?
2. Only by the experience or the monitoring of the course are you going to be able to tell whether you will excel at Algebra HE or not. You cannot judge by the hearsay of your friends. This is NOT saying you do not have good friends but a second hand experience is the best you can do at that level and I do not think it would be beneficial for you.
3. Go to your library and practice up on the Algebra skills required for you on this level . I would hope the instructor at this level would have no problem giving you a class outline of what will be expected of you in the class.
4. Relax and sit back in quiet solitude to make your decision and then if you have no distractions I am sure you will come up with the right decision.
5. I wish you good luck and congratulations on your skills for I hope they will continue to shine for you.

Only you know how easy math is for you to learn. Does math come easy or do you have to study hard to get the grade. If it comes easy and you have excellent study habits as will then maybe the HE is for you. But if you have never had to study to get the excellent scores will you be able to form study habits that will keep your grades up in HE. Study up on HE math books before Monday and see if HE will be easy or hard. If you have poor study habits and the HE will be hard for you to learn then stay with the advance 8th grade math. Only you know how hard math is or isn't.
If you try HE and fail or get a low score how hard would it be on you to have failed or to receive a poor grade in math.
Only you can answer these questions.

First, don't be so worried about people perceiving you to be a nerd. And don't tell people you are hot. Both make you seem like a person you wouldn't want others to perceive you to be.
As for your decision, you need to discuss this with your parents and your current teacher and make a decision tyogether. If you have a gifted IEP, the team will be reconvened. Do not ask a stranger for a definite answer as we do not know your academic abilities and history the way your parents adn teachers do.
