That's a difficult one as they are both great cities. In general though, Manchester has more social problems so I'd probably opt for Edinburgh as then you also get the added bonus of the amazing Scottish countryside. Both cities have excellent shopping, architecture, pubs, clubs, and eateries but Edinburgh is much more laid back and the people are a lot friendler.

Personally I love Manchester, but that's not to dismiss Edinburgh,I've never been there so couldn't form an opinion on it.

Manchester without a shadow of a doubt. I live quite close to Edinburgh and the people there are extremely stuck up and unfriendly and the house prices are ridicoulous for what you get.

Well it depends what you like, Edinbrugh is always way too cold, but in manchester it rains a lot! Edinbrugh is a lot cleaner. If amnchester, south manchester is cleaner and has better schools and stuff like that. Manchester still has a lot of beautiful scenery, so does Edinbrugh with all the large hills and castles, i would actually rcomend Manchester, South Manchester.

Ive lived in both places before. If money wasn't a problem regarding property prices, i would live in Edinburgh otherwise I would live in Manchester. The people in both places are great but the Scots are a little bit more cheery and helpful.
