My car was recently in a flood. We had some bad weather and there was standing water in my neighborhood that got into my car just above the bottom of the doors. The interior carpet is soaked and smells really bad. The insurance company took an estimate and gave me about $400 to clean the carpet and replace the carpet padding. I have been reading and it seems that a lot of people are saying that I may have electrical problems later on. The engine fluids do not have water in it and it is running fine. Can anyone give me their opinion on whether I will have electrical trouble later on from this?

I can get an inspection done at the local hyundai dealer for $180. If nothing else is found, I am responsible for the $180. If they do find any issues, then the insurance will pay the $180. Would you reccomend trying to go through with the inspection?

Yes it is very likely that you will have electrical problems down the road. There are a lot of connections that run underneath the carpeting and the connections are not watertight so if they got soaked they will likely rust.

you quite shouldn't attempt to start a automobile that grow to be flooded. If any water have been given interior the motor or transmission, beginning and using it ought to smash the motor vehicle. There could additionally be many electric powered areas under the floor; rugs etc. Have it professionally inspected.

Wheel bearings, tierods, bushings, brakes, brake cyliders, ball joints, etc. that were under water may tend to rust.

If it were my car, I'd take it for a LONG drive somewhere to get everything warmed up real good and dried out.
