That's a definite YES. I'm showing my age, but I still like Europe, Rush, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, Led Zep, Def Leppard, GNR, Queen, AC/DC, Scorpions, White Lion, Uriah Heep, Eagles, Van Halen, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Ronnie James Dio, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc, etc. I think the best music has already been written. The new ones are just poseurs. All the old bands are still played by radio stations. How many new bands will be played in 30 yrs' time?

80s rock is so much bette than this new emo crap they've got. I don't like any of the newer harder bands either. Right now I'm even watching Metal Mania. The new theme song they've got is gayy. When The Children Cry just finished but I wonder what's next. OOO CHERRY PIE!!!
Other than the last two and Girls Girls Girls, the've been playin non regular stuff like The Cult. They never play stuff like that. I agree with that one guy's answer. Old rock is better because for example, If Metallica came on you'd know it was Metallica. Today, if a new band come on you'd think it was a totally different band. Everything's just so processed like it was in the late 80s with all the thousands of 15 min famers in LA with absolutely no talent or potential.

No not really, I like new stuff just as much as the old stuff, I like Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage (and a ton of others), just as much as I liked Testament, Anthrax, and Exodus. If I still had my old tape collection I'd be listening to most of the stuff in there as well as my newer stuff. Good metal's good metal doesn't matter if it's old school, new school, or whatever. Although when I hear an old school song that I haven't heard in a long time(like when a local radio station here just out of the blue played a Metal Church song.. I almost had a heart attack on that one) I love it, it's even more fun when I remember the lyrics. As for the previous post that said politics doesn't belong in metal, Megadeth's been doing that for eons and doing rather well with it so I guess for some folks it does.

Tough question. I personally will always be partial to the old school metal and hard rock but I like some of these new guys out there who are carrying the torch into the new millenium in the midst of the terrible scourge called Rap.
Old school guys like AC/DC , Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin, Mountain, Uriah Heep, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Saxon , UFO, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent, Van Halen ,Accept, early day Aerosmith ( not anything after they sold out with Run-DMC), early Metallica, Megadeth, and even bands like Whitesnake, Queensryche, David Lee Roth, Quiet Riot, Night Ranger, etc. I could sit here for hours , but those guys will always be better than any of the new guys because they started the scene. You never pass your teachers.
But some of these guys like In Flames, Children of Bodom , Amon Amarth, Soilwork , Bullet For My Valentine, Killswitch Engage , Shadows Fall, Black Label Society are really carrying the flag for metal and is the only thing saving us from the clutches of Rap, so I praise them.
My opinion though? I still like the old guys and what's sad is I'm only 24.

I agree 100%. Growing up in the 80's was wicked fun, and one big reason was the hard rock scene. I remember listening to Heatseeker by AC/DC about 1000 times a night. All the hairbands rocked.
Why? There music was just fun. It was all about partying, having fun, getting drunk, getting laid, and hanging out with your friends. I hated, yet respected the grunge scene, but why kids started to want to feel depressed with all the fun that was to be had out there was baffling to me.
The only band that came out in the 90's that I really enjoyed was Collective Soul, as I felt they had good fun songs and helped bridge the gap. I still primarily listen to 80's music, have a boatload of 80's rock on my ipod. Oh, I'm severely mocked for my passion, but I still love it, and I always will.
Rock On!!!

solid factors. i detect it particularly complicated to hearken to as we talk's rap track because of the fact i think of it lacks creativity and bypass. I additionally discover it very exciting how somebody can stand there with their Gold Chains and picture they seem solid while they seem stupid. such as you mentioned, they rap a pair of motor vehicle they have by no skill had and rims they have have been given to have. that is all relating to the tangibles besides the undeniable fact that it quite is pronounced as leisure for a reason!!! I ought to save on with my weapons and the previous formed rap from the late 80's and early ninety's. I even have long gone by using maximum of NWA, Ice cube, Slick Rick, DMX, Run DMC, Snoop, Ice T, Public Enemy, Too short, enormous Daddy Kane and the record is going on. those men have been innovators and as we talk all I see are plagerist. not all yet maximum folk. I had to function - a similar is real with united states of america, Rock, steel, Heavy steel, Grundge & dying steel. They take $a hundred and make a CD and stupid human beings purchase it. no count number what track is made, there'll continuously be a team of people with low intelligence and damaging determination making understand-how there to purchase it.

The new metal is so depressing. It's either about politics (which has absolutely no place in metal) or it's whiny sissy crap. The 80s metal/hair bands was the fun music.

Whoa! Back up the train. If it wasn't for the old stuff you wouldn't have your new stuff. The groups I admire paved the way for those of today. In my opinion, the music of yesterday will always be superior. Up the Irons!

The new stuff all thrives to sound the same, the older(metal) was more destinct to each band.. in other words, you could tell a band in the first three seconds of hearing the song. now, your never sure who the hell that is.
