I remember a part of this--

I've asked a great many people,
But nobody seems to know,
how the pirates spent their christmas in the days of long ago.
Did they cover the mast with green leaves,
and call it a christmas tree..................?????

And I was in primary school 47 or so years ago!

I've asked a great many people
But nobody seems to know
How the pirates spent their Christmas
In days of long ago
And how many loaded galleons
On Christmas Day were sank
And how many merchant sea-men
Were made to walk the plank

Or whether they chanted carols
As round the decks they rolled
Or made each-other presents
Out of their hoard of gold
Or covered the mast with green leaves
And called it a Christmas tree
And hung it with shining sequins
on the shore of a tropical sea

I've asked a great many people
But nobody seems to know
How the pirates spent their Christmas
In days of long ago
