If i open a doc or excel file from a pen drive, edit it, get print out.... is it possible to recover the data from the hard disk in case the pen drive get damaged... or lost

No if it was never saved to the hard drive it will not be able to be recovered. Depending on the importance you might be able to have a lab recover it from the thumb drive if it is damaged but that will cost a lot of money.
