It's a myth you'll burn your lawn because the water droplets magnify the sun. Actually what happens is the higher the temperature and drier the air, the more water is lost to evaporation before it reaches the ground. You can easily lose 70% of the water when temps are 90 and humidity is <15%.
It's better to water in early morning when air is cooler and humidity is higher. Also as the sun sets is another good time unless your area is humid where the plants would remain wet all night perhaps promoting disease. However, if you watch golf courses and parks......they have to water at night. What saves them is the good air circulation around the grass....and sometimes chemicals.

if it needs water, water it.. regardless of the temperature.
Morning watering is best when it's warm, because the grass can use the moisture to help resist the stress of heat. If the grass stays wet all night, it increases the chances of development of lawn fungi like brown patch.
If you water at the peak of sunlight, you will lose some moisture to evaporation. Morning's lower temps let the moisture penetrate into the soil better.

Sure, why not?
Though it's best to water your lawn in the early morning, it can be done any time of day, in any temperature.
Doesn't it rain when the temperature is 80 degrees? That doesn't kill the lawn, right?
