do you like it if the cashier tries to talk to you or do you prefer that they just leave you alone? I like it when they try to talk to you.

I like them to say SOMETHING to me and acknowledge I'm there, not necessarily a full blown conversation,I think it's ignorant if they just ring in your goods and the first time they speak is to tell you how much it is and it annoys me even more if they are having a conversation with the person on the next checkout!

I know most of the cashiers at our local store, but when I go to a store in a different town, I try to say something nice to the cashier. I used to be one, so I feel their pain.

I think it really depends on what mood I'm in. If I'm cranky and I want to get out of the friggin' store as soon as I can, then, yes, I hate it when the cashier talks to me.

But if I'm in a good mood and I'm in no hurry to go anywhere, then yes, a small chat is cool!

Friendliness is always nice. It makes me feel like they apreciate my buisness. I don't want someone who likes to have a big conversation with everyone that comes through their line, because I normally don't have that much time. But a smile and a little small chit chat goes a long way. And of course they should always thank you for your buisness. Besides if it wasn't for the customers these people wouldn't have a job.

I don't mind if they want to chat or not.... the only thing that annoys me a bit is when they say, "Have a nice day," in a tone of voice that implies they couldn't care less if I do or not. ALL of the cashiers here say it, I think its store policy, and I wish they weren't forced to say it.

No I would rather have a friendly cashier who wants to talk to me then one that isn't that friendly. I don't mind if I'm in a store and people wants to talk to me.

It all depends on what the cashier wants to talk about. One time this older lady was so slow and was showing everyone pictures of her grandchildren.Them she lectured me that I had too much eye make up on.

It doesn't cost anything extra for people to be friendly. I think friendly is the way to go. If there's a line, it tends to make people less edgy if the cashier is friendly.

If I have my hands full with all the kids ect...then leave me alone. I know people mean well, but I get sick of 100 questions about my twins when I am in a hurry to get home.
