Dear Pet lovers.... I'm sorry. I know this site is only for questions and answers, but after reading some of the questions in here regarding sick animals, I feel so frustrated that I need to get this out, and hope that I may as a result, help or at least put a suffering animal out of it's misery.
This is a wake-up call that I hope to pass on to pet owners. I am so sick of seeing "what is wrong with my dog"... or "I think my cat is dying". What is wrong with you people????!!! If you had a child that was constantly vomiting, having spasms or bleeding from where ever, would you sit on the computer waiting to get an opinion from us? You have a breathing living soul in your hand who depends on you to help it. Please please stop asking ridiculous questions and take your sick pets to the vet immediately. I beg you!

I have no intention of insulting anyone. I am well aware that many of us do not have the financial comfort of running to a vet each time we are concerned about something. However, I do believe that if you call your vet, he will give you some advise over the phone. I have been in a position of not having money to take my pet to the doctor. I borrowed. And I would borrow again if it was necessary. And will continue to compare the life of a child to that of an animal. It hurts, laughs, cries and loves.... just like a child.

Oh my God! A rational person who can think - for themselves even! I find it disturbing that these folks who claim they love their animal will sit at a computer waiting for strangers to tell them what to do and what is wrong with their animal - instead of using the logic that God obviously forgot to give them - and not take their "beloved" pet to the vet who more than likely has more training and experience with animals than anyone here. Even picking up and reading a book written by experts is better than sitting on the computer waiting for public opinion to step in and give their two cents that more than likely will be inaccurate.
While Im on the soap box, as with the situation with children, if you can't afford to to properly take care of your pet and take them to the doctor when their sick, why even bother with a pet? Your parents took you to the doctor when you were sick, correct? Just a thought.
Being that as it may, I applaud your boldness in saying what needed to be said and hope you continue to spread more common sense (which btw isn't very common anymore) through out this society of ours. Lord only knows we need more of it!

I completely believe you Fiona! I too have sat here thinking if some all and sundry is for actual. I recommend some could be quite stupid to think of that we are able to help an animal that has been throwing up for 2 days and that they've not seen a vet or is pooping blood. merely a fool does no longer bypass to the vet in the event that they actually cared with regard to the animal. If it quite is that undesirable take it and think of with regard to the bill later. That stated i grow to be very inspired with a youthful poster the former day who grow to be on my own with a canine merely rescued the day earlier that began having domestic dogs. The poster grow to be scared to call 911 in case they have been given into hardship and ought to no longer stumble on the mummy and dad. With help from different posters he went and have been given a pals help. I do wish all ended up nicely for him/her as i grow to be so inspired with that youngster. I additionally choose there grow to be a place to archive solutions as i'm particular 20 situations an afternoon somebody posts approximately a thank you to abode smash a doggy, a thank you to provide up a doggy nipping etc. it could be so efficient for them if there grow to be a link the place they could merely verify on issues like this fairly than them shop asking. of direction they could continuously merely look back interior the path of the threads too, yet incredibly new posters would possibly no longer think of of this. i actually am only gaining expertise of here.

I agree, we are not vets. And even if we were, we can't give a diagnosis on here. I have learned that it is just as easy and a lot quicker to call the veterinarian myself and ask any questions that I have. And they never seem to mind me calling. So unless it is the middle of night, (when my vet's office is closed) my questions won't be life and death questions. Good luck on your quest to get people to understand.

Hello...while I agree in part, if many just listened to their hearts, they KNOW when their pets need a VET & I will tell them so as well..but then you have the PANICKERS who say run to the vets, for things you don't a vet , for & for those with reptiles/ amphibians.... especially them red ear sliders DO A SEARCH, you keep ASKING QUESTIONS ALREADY ANSWERED, or one's that you should be asking the pet store or should KNOW BEFORE YOU GET THE PET, that drives me nuts too...you don't get many vets who will do anything for 10 dollar pets or who do reptiles...best info for reptiles is a reputabel REPTILE STORE !! Also BEWARE of Posers, who claim to be "Professionals in Yahoo Answers" a good professional would not do so in Yahoo Answers ;) !!! Take Care :)

i totally agree with you !! i am a veterinary nurse and have awnsered several questions on here
people must realise that their vets are duty bound to see an animal that is in pain and suffering regardless of their financial situation or circumstances
only a vet can treat your sick animal i can tell them what i think and what needs to be done but they need to go to a vets to do it
cut out the middle man and call your vets if your animal is sick

If it wasn't for Answers I'll bet some of those people would wait even longer to take their pet to the doctor
than they do. People have varying degrees of common sense
so it's futile to ask them not to ask stupid questions. It's better
to give helpful answers instead of judging the questions
unworthy, since not everyone is as smart as you are.

I posted almost the exact same question when I first started on Yahoo! I can therefore predict your responses will be a mixture of support and abuse, depending on people's opinions.
I agree with you, you're totally right - 'what's wrong with my dog/cat?' is one of my least favourite questions. That and 'any home remedies for cancer/FIP/parvo etc etc'. I sympathise, but you're not going to get anywhere.

some people that ask these questions are going to the vet and just asking for peer opinions
