Was alcohol involved? Because alcohol is a depressive trigger. People who are clinically depressed are advised not to drink.
If no alcohol, perhaps you are over-thinking. Do you feel like you do not deserve to be happy, perhaps because there is so much sadness and injustice in the world?
I noticed your avatar is female. If you are, maybe it's just hormones. PMS does that to me sometimes, where I'll be perfectly fine and then the next day I just want to cry.
Hope this helps and hope you feel better. You should have fun!

In response to answers about depression. Please don't let medicine be the answer. That is our societies answer to too many problems today. I used to have the same problem when I was about 16. I would let the smallest things stress me out for no reason. You have to think through those "down" situations and figure out what is causing it. Once you've done that, figure out what good can come from it.
I would highly recommend you read the book Living Wabi Sabi: The True Beauty of Your Life by Taro Gold. You can get it for like less than 10 bucks on amazon.com. Reading it helped me a lot to cope with what seemed like bad situations.

Joy, fun or sadness are mind's making. Because what you experienced was just pleasure and not real happiness. Happiness comes from innermost self, not from outside. Mind plays tricks. The sensual joy or pleasure is mistakenly taken for happiness, which is permanent. When once you realise the pleasure which is induced by senses are not real then sadness sets in. This is a mental acrobatics.

There must be an underlying minor problem. Like when you went out did you completely remain true to yourself...meaning did you act differently than you are because of who you were with...or did something get you down about the evening, did you appear happy but deep inside something about the situation you were in, really somehow bothered you. To me, what I've just said makes sense. Not sure if it will to you. I too have come home from a good night out and have decided to keep more to myself in the future. Another thought....maybe you went out and were completely yourself and it bothers you that were so out there for everyone to see and know and somehow you are not entirely comfortable with yourself yet.

Humans tend to dislike being alone. Having fun when your alone is difficult to do.
It is likely that miss or grieve having fun. Of course, why have fun, if after the fun you will sadness or grief.
As a species, we are odd. We expect to feel "good", "happy", "fun", "Joy" all of the time. This isn't reasonable. Enjoy the fun while it lasts.

i dont think it is depression either. i really just think that you are thinking to yourself that you shouldnt have as much fun as you do. there is something inside of you that lacks confidence or self esteem and although you let your gaurd down sometimes, it comes rushing back as soon as the fun is over. there is nothing you can do until you accept it in yourself that you are good enough and you do deserve something. you also might have to think about what may be going on in your life that you may think you should devote more time to them then you do yourself and inside deep in your mind it comes out when you spend time on ourself rather than others.

Do not define your sense of personal happiness based upon your emotions but on the fullfillment of the purpose of your nature in accord with virtue.
