I'm going to vote for him and I am white. To me his skin color is not important: we are all human and I'd still vote for him if he was purple. I feel he is the best candidate, and will listen to the American people.
I think this may be an issue for older people that grew up in a time before black people were so accepted. (Hopefully they didn't pass that kind of thinking on to their kids.)
I really see him as the best hope of change for our country, because he cares about us and loves this country.
I also admire him for having the courage to run in the face of these types of questions.

I think you are wrong about that. Not all white people hate black people, I would vote for the most qualified to fix what is wrong with our country.I'm not sure yet if He's the one able to do it. I have a hard time now trusting ANY politician. They all seem to say what sounds good up front, but then later fail to do any of the things they promised. It is still a few years away. I will be watching to see who stands out, and seems to remain sincere. I would even vote for a black Woman, if she seemed to be what we need. But I know I wont vote for Hilary, What a lying chameleon. She just changes herself into whatever she thinks people want to hear. Now if
Morgan Freeman really did run, I would probably vote for Him, He has Played a president in the Movies at least Once, maybe more. So I guess He has experience. Obama so far, seems Like a good guy, But So was Jimmy Carter, and Gerald Ford. Good people dont always make good presidents. The next President Is going to have to be exceptional, because of the way the world hates the U.S. right now. We are really going to need someone strong and charismatic to soothe the rest of the world to be comfortable with us again. And still be willing to fix what is wrong in this country, Not every other little failing country in the world.

I think the democrats had a stunning oppurtunity to take control of everything and they may have blown it. They already have control of congress and they could very well step in and take the presidency due to the overwhelming disapproval of bush.
However the two main democratic candidates already have forces working against them. One is a woman, and one is a black guy. I just don't think our country has evolved enough yet to elect a woman or a black guy into office. Dont mistake this as racism but just an accurate observation. The left could've taken complete control of the country but I think they may have a hard time getting either of those two elected.
I'm objective and can see the good from both sides but I vote GOP so this is hope for the republicans. However if anything can defy history and social norms in such a way to actually get one of the dems elected it would be bush and his Iraqi war.

Actually Obama has been proven to be a mixed race. He is maybe promoting himself as black just to get the black race vote then. He is aware that alot of african americans turn out to vote and is trying to use that in his favor. It really seems to come down to whether alot of people agree with or like what he has to say in the process of his campaigning or not. He needs to be high runner in the money invested along the way too. They seem to focus on how much money each candidate has added to the bid for the nomination. Hillary is way ahead in that catergory alone. Both candidates have to show why they would be the better choice in the running. Then there is John Edwards rerunning to get that bid and he is one with a bit of experience and reminds many of John F. Kennedy. So it is anyone's guess at this point and has nothing to do with what race someone may be in the long run but what they have to offer if they were the one to get into the white house.

As a white woman, I will vote for him, as will most of my extended family. However, I believe that sadly, some whites will not. Especially southern white men who are still viewing all african americans as some sort of threat. I know we'd all like to focus on all the positive changes in race-relations over the past few decades, and there have been many, many steps forward. However, racism still runs deep in the hearts of a lot of people from all ethnic backgrounds.

If Obama where white he would not be a shoo in. We would be skeptical he was a member of the good old boys club. Lie, cheat and steal to get in. Black people hate white people more than vice versa. My white friends get mad if someone uses the N word where my black friends say things like cracker all the time and they laugh right in front of my white face (but only when they have more numbers)

I think with the breath of fresh air he brings to Washignton right now, many Americans of all nationalities and races would come together and vote for him.

I just hope to God they do vote for him. Just because he is half black don`t mean he is any less US citizen than any other. Now is the time for USA to show the world it is not a race based society it is a society based on fairness good luck &damn luckiness.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I have followed him since 2004, read his books, bought Obama 2008 shirts and bumper stickers...he is our next best hope. You will always have your narrow-minded Americans, but hopefully the smarter states can cancel the bumpkins out...

I would vote for J.C.Watts or Condi Rice in a heartbeat but Obama is not fit for the presidency and if elected, the African-American community will be set back drastically when his lack of intelligence and good sense and racism is exposed.
A word to the wise is sufficient.
