When we're in a crisis, we usually feel quite overwhelmed and that actually creates a lot of emotional blockages that prevents our thoughts to flow. So the best thing we can do is just to calm ourselves- go to a quite place, stop thinking for a while, take some deep breathes & pray- yes, prayer is very important and especially so during a crisis- that's the best thing we can possibly do when stuck in the midst of a whirlwind beacuse there're situations in life which we can't overcome on our own but we can definitely do so with God. And from my own experience I can say when we seek him, usually he helps in the best possible way- either by turning the situation around or by simply giving us divine wisdom but in either way we've to be open enough to accept his guidance. Now I don't know about others but this is something that has always worked for me. Btw, great question Billy & I think the tips shared here can really help many....

I think very clearly in a crisis. My work demands it. I'm a 9-1-1 supervisor, so I don't have the luxury of panic. I have to make decisions in an instant, and that requires a clear head, and a focused mind.

If it is a personal crisis, then I cry, write, vent, cry some more, try to express my feelings to my special someone.

If it is a crisis in which there are several people are involved, I take the time to reflect and gather my thoughts so I can be rational about it. Then talk it over with them.

Natural disasters......I freak out. Can't stay calm, no matter how hard I try. Tornado season...yeah, it freaks me out!!!

I go into what my family calls "list mode." I do think clearly because I am a worrier that worked all of the details out decades ago.

I STOP. then quietly wait for inspiration. That can come in a matter of seconds. When it comes I act immediately without question.

I have to be by myself first and just cry. Then once I calm down I can think a little more clearer.
