Ok My tank has cycled and we finally got fish today!!! 5 baloon mollies. I have an aquarium heater that is pre set for 78 degrees. I cant make it go lower than 78. Is that too warm for mollies? should I turn the heater off? or is that ok?

That's a fine temp. Just make sure the aquarium isn't near a sunny window which can raise the temp and kill your mollies.

Don't fret, the mollies will survive because it gains the warmth of a tropical water body from your heater and that is exactly what they need but if the water gets too cold or too warm, the fish is going to have a lowered antibody rate and become victimized by easily preventable diseases such as white spots and fin rot.

In a tropical tank, whether you have mollies or neons or guppies or anything similar, you want to keep the water temperature around 76-78 F. So yes, you're perfectly fine.

I checked this out on ask.com. The scientific name is haplophryne mollis. They can live in a variety of settings, from -1.8 C to 40 C which is about 29 F to 104 F. You're fish tank is fine.

Mollies are energetic fish and could be saved in a 20 gallon minimum tank, it is my very own emotions. some might argue you may save as lots of four of an identical intercourse in a 10 gallon tank.
